Fast Freddie's
1967 Dodge Dart

100% COMPLETE

This Dart started it all for the Fast Freddies boys.

BACKGROUND STORY

This car was built to both demonstrate the capabilities of the craftsmanship found at Fast Freddies as well as to showcase an array of aftermarket products available to improve the ride, handling, safety and overall appearance of yesterday's muscle cars.

You'll see in the photos the car had some work done previously, but it wasn't up to our standards, so we started over and made it as nice as it could be. The main objective was to create a well-balanced street machine that could be driven coast to coast in modern comfort and be able to pull into any gas station and fill the tank with pump gas.

Even with the engine making 555HP and 650lb./ft. of torque, it idles incredibly smooth and has excellent road manners. With the Tremec TKO 600 5 speed trans, it cruises down the highway at 2000 RPM at 65 MPH, making it easy on the engine and easier on the wallet with less fuel stops. The car performed flawlessly on the road from Madison, WI to Racine, WI on the 2009 Hot Rod Power Tour.

Other updates include power rack & pinion steering, Vintage Air A/C, RMS K-frame with coil-over shocks, Calvert Racing rear suspension with Cal-Tracs and a totally modernized interior with Hushmat throughout and a killer audio system.

Shortly after the car was completed, it was featured as the car of the month for July, 2009 on the Lateral G web site. Click on the link below to read the story, see more photos and watch a YouTube video of the car that was taken at its debut at the 2009 World of Wheels show in St. Paul, MN.

The editors of Car Craft Magazine were so impressed by the car at the 2010 Car Craft Summer Nationals at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds that they did a feature article on the car and Fast Freddies Rod Shop. Click on this link to go to the Car Craft article:
